My e.l.f. haul arrives

This is my second haul I’ve bought from the e.l.f. website. My first haul was more of a mini version, fifteen products for about $30.

This time around, there were many products I wanted, and still want, to try, but I was primarily motivated by the 75% Mineral Lipstick sale. I bought over $70 worth of product (21 items!), but after the discount and free shipping, I paid $31.

It was definitely a great deal, though I wonder if I really need so many lipsticks.

I really, really wanted to get the Studio Complexion Perfection and the Studio Golden Bronzer. Both were out when I placed my order. I had the Warm Bronzer—which I think is a bit too dark, but I was desperate—in my cart when I checked out. It was in stock when I compiled my cart, but by the time I placed the order, the site listed it as sold out. As I suspected, it really was out of stock and I was not charged the $3. That was a let down as I won’t be able to place another order for awhile.

I’m going to break this review down into three parts: the overview (this post), the Mineral Lipstick review, and everything else. I had hoped to make only one post, but there are so many photos, that I cannot do this in one go.

Final Thoughts

Pros: Economical products, good colors, great value
Cons: Some chintzy products, some products too pigmented

I will give a more in-depth review of the products I bought, but for now I’ll just give an overview.

As usual, there were regrets with some of the products I ordered. I choose the Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder (full review here) because the other Studio products I wanted were out of stock at the time. I wanted a bronzer, but as other reviewers have pointed out before me, it’s really freakin’ dark. Way too dark for someone with my fair skin tone. Also, the compact is much larger than I expected.

On the other hand, I love lipstick and am very happy with the Mineral Lipstick line. Is it the best lipstick I’ve ever tried? Nope. Is it the best vegan lip product on the market? Also no. The coverage is sheer and the colours fall prey to the traditional vegan colour dilemma, ranging somewhere between nude pink and brown with no true pinks or reds.

Despite these problems, the e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick is very good, whether it’s sold at the regular price of $5 USD or the exceptional discounted price of $1.25. Traditional drugstore lipstick has skyrocketed to $10, so I have no qualms about paying $5 for something I can use. There aren’t any other mainstream vegan lipstick out there that runs at such an economical price.
