Throwback Thursday: e.l.f. Candy Shop Lip Gloss

I realize this entry is a day late, but I went to see the movie Godzilla yesterday with the hubby and kids and ended up consuming too much caffeine, leading me to be sick to my stomach and all sorts of messed up. I decided it would be better to sleep off the effects, rather than finish this post.

In the not too distant past, e.l.f. was constantly foisting the Candy Shop Lip Gloss tins on everyone. Most commonly the company would offer you a free gift if you were willing to sell out three of your best buds’ email addresses. I’m not sure what everyone else got, but I only received lip tins.

The Candy Shop Lip Glosses are from what is now called the Essential line, but what many referred to as the dollar line. Back when everything was still just a dollar in the the basic line.

I ultimately ended up with Candy Fix, Frosting Fanatic, Berry Pop, and Mocha Maniac. I never opened Frosting Fanatic or Mocha Maniac, so I can’t comment on the colors.

The lip glosses were surprisingly well made—probably contributing to why they were discontinued—with a generous amount of shimmery gloss in a metal tin.

The original lip tins all featured names that referenced various sweets. I kinda think the current Essential Lip Balm Tints are the pseudo-successors of the lip tins.

e.l.f. Target 2009 LE Luxury Gift Sets

Back in 2009, as part of the exclusive Target 2009 limited edition holiday sets, there was a set that featured three holiday themed flavors: Sugar Cookie, Peppermint Patty, and Chocolate Frosting.

The silver shade stickers on the reverse oddly list different names (same order as earlier): Sugar Plum, Candy Cane, and Hot Cocoa.

All of the glosses that I own, and have opened, have a shimmer finish and are very sheer. Candy Fix, Sugar Cookie and Peppermint Patty are basically just shimmer. There’s not a lot of color here.

Berry Pop and Chocolate Cupcake have better pigmentation, but there still not a lot. The latter, however, is nice if you’re going for a bronzed look.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this throwback post. Thanks for reading!
