April 2015 Favorites!

You might notice that April has much fewer favorites than the previous month. There are a few reasons for that. First, I purchased far fewer items in April and second, I also had a bad run in with cinnamon oil that left me with a quasi serious burn all over the lower part of my face. That’s been real fun. While the burn doesn’t look so bad, it’s not the most pleasant experience. And finally, I haven’t had many opportunities to leave home, so not of makeup wearing days.

All favorites listed below are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream

Price Tag: $39 USD
Where to Buy: Online at juicebeauty.com

I’m always a sucker for BB and CC creams so I was delighted to find this in March’s Petit Vour box. There are five shades available and I was fortunate to receive the lightest shade in Natural Glow.

Pacifica Power of Love Eye Shadow Palette

Price Tag: $19.99 USD
Where to Buy: In Target stores; online at target.com

I didn’t expect a lot from this palette because while Pacifica palettes are beautiful, they usually have a lot of pigmentation. The Power of Love Eye Shadow Palette is hands down the best palette I’ve tried from Pacifica. Besides consistency and color payoff, the palette has a lot of great neutrals with a few bold shades thrown in for good measure.

The palettes is part of the exclusive Made to Matter initiative at Target.

e.l.f. Essential Smudge Pots

Price Tag: $3 USD
Where to Buy: In Target stores; online at eyeslipsface.com

I’m working on a review for the Smudge Pots and discovered that Back to Basics and Brownie Points are made for each other. The two cream shadows blend together amazingly well for a beautiful metallic look. I tried taking selfies of myself wearing the e.l.f. Smudge Pots, but that turned into a disaster. You’ll just have to take my word for it.

Pacifica Smolder Eye Lining Gel in Tahitian Pearl

Price Tag: $14 USD
Where to Buy: pacificabeauty.com

This eyeliner was also featured last month. I can’t get over how much I like it.

Pacifica Power of Love Natural Lipstick in Nudie Red

Price Tag: $9.99 USD
Where to Buy: In target stores; online at target.com

I don’t wear a whole lot of lipsticks, choosing to wear lip tints instead, but I’ve made an exception for the Pacifica Power of Love lipstick in Nudie Red. I’ve even started keeping it in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups. While this brick pink doesn’t really have any red, it’s the perfect neutral for everyday use.

Plus, as part of the Power of Love Campaign, one lipstick will be given to a woman in need for every lipstick purchased.

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish in #imsola

Price Tag: $18 USD
Where to Buy: laurenbbeauty.com

You can find a swatch photo on my Instagram account.

Excluding the slightly annoying hash tag shade name, I believe the Lauren B. Beauty nail polish is one of the most perfect polishes produced and has instantly become my favorite polish brand. The shade #ImSoLA is a dark pink, a color that is surprisingly underrepresented in my collection.

I’m really terrible at nail polish. I’m constantly doing things with my hands and it’s pure torture doing my nails, and afterwards sitting around while trying not to move my hands. Almost immediately after I photograph my nails, I usually ding/smudge my polish.

The Lauren B. Beauty dries and hardens super quickly, perfect for someone like me. Though it chips fairly quickly in a couple of days, like all polishes do on me, the process of painting nails isn’t as excruciating as usual.
