New e.l.f. Holiday 2015 Sets at Target {Spotted}

When I visited Target last night to pick up some Gardein—at 25% off through Cartwheel—I didn’t expect to find the latest e.l.f. holiday sets. However, that’s what I found on a full end cap display in the cosmetic section. Almost everything in the display is also available online at the e.l.f. website.

This year has been kind of disappointing. Most of the products are recycled from previous years. Only the Nude to Bold Look Books and Beautiful Brows set caught my eye.

Once again there are no windows on the product boxes, so it’s difficult to judge what some of the products are. Even on the products featuring permanent items, there are no shade names on the boxes. In the past, e.l.f. has often listed shade names for permanent items.

The top row has, from left to right, Essential Lip Balm Tints in Rosy Rocker and Pink Princess (two rows each), Essential Super Glossy Lip Shines in Strawberry Swirl and Pink Kiss Swirl, Essential Flawless Eyeshadow in Rio De Janeiro and Tantalizing Taupe, and an Essential Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black.

I think pretty much everything I found at Target is also available online. The only set that surprised me was the Nude to Bold Look Books collection. I’ve never seen e.l.f. package any eyeshadow palette like this before. This box was in my cart at one point, but I ultimately put it back. At $15 USD, it was priced a little higher than I wanted to pay, especially considering that e.l.f. eyeshadows are all over the place in terms of formulation, consistency, and pigmentation. I’m not paying that much for a product I can’t see. Also, I’m positive that some of the shades have been in previous Beauty Books and 6-pan palettes.

The bottom row, that’s currently empty in the photos, has spots for brush sets at $20 and nail polish sets for $15. I think the brush set is the e.l.f. 11 Piece Luxury Brush Collection that you can find online at e.l.f.

Unfortunately there are a lot of sets that include brushes with natural fibers. It seems like the brand doesn’t want to have any $3 USD sets so they threw in an Essential eyeshadow brush to bump up the cost. e.l.f. is so close to being entirely vegan, with the recent decision to convert half of the Essential brushes to vegan versions, that this is frustrating. I can’t say for certain without opening the boxes that the sets include natural fiber bristles, but past experience points to it.

Across from the natural makeup section and body care products was another small e.l.f. aisle display in the candy section, of all places. I didn’t find anything that Target doesn’t already carry in their permanent location.

e.l.f. is a cruelty-free brand. All current products are vegan, with the exception of some Essential line brushes that contain natural fiber bristles.
