Vegan Beauty Box List

Vegan Beauty Box List

Over the last year, there has been a sharp increase in vegan box subscriptions. For those unfamiliar, a “box” is a paid subscription service that curates full size, sample sizes, or a combination of both, into a (usually) monthly box.

There are tons of different types of subscription boxes. Go to SubscriptionBoxes.com to see all of the crazy options there are. Beauty boxes are one subset of the box subscription services, the most popular of which seems to be Birchbox. Julep even has their own box with an option of nothing but nail products.

While there are many vegan subscription boxes, I am listing the ones that have a beauty focus. This is not a review of these services, but merely a listing of the available vegan options.

The Good Box has three levels of monthly boxes, but all include at least one vegan bar, one box of shower bombs, one 100% soy travel candle, and a surprise. Higher level boxes may include a Room & Body Mist, shea butter in a tin, and bath bombs.

All bath and body products are supplied by Level Naturals.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

Cost: $19.95 USD/Month
Where to Subscribe: VeganCuts.com

Details

Free shipping to US customers; additional fee for all other countries. Only a monthly subscription plan is currently available.

From Vegan Cuts Beauty Box:

Each box typically includes 4-7 (sometimes more!) vegan and cruelty-free products, ranging from cosmetics to hair, skin, or body care. We include a mix of full and sample size items, with at least one full-sized item. Everything is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, that means no animal products of any nature including honey, carmine, and beeswax. We’ve also decided not to include any products that contain palm oil. We focus on offering natural, eco, and organic products.

Further:

We’ll of course aim to make every box extra special, but our commitment will be to provide you with a minimum of $35 in retail value.

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle Subscription

Cost: $19.95 + $6.95 s/h [Bi-monthly service]
Where to Subscribe: eyeslipsface.com

Details

Shipping is an additional fee. There are also six and twelve month non-discounted options. Unlike the other subscription plans listed here, the Beauty Bundle is shipped bi-monthly. e.l.f. promises $40 of full size products in each box.

There are no beauty profile options; everyone receives the same products each month. There is also no FAQ on the site.

From e.l.f.:

No need to worry about picking matching colors or deciding on the perfect palette–We’ll do the hard work for you! Our expert makeup artists will curate an amazing selection of our best products, all in our favorite neutral colors designed to look beautiful on every skin tone, and ship it your way!

Additional Notes

This wouldn’t be a bad subscription plan for me—if I didn’t already own almost everything from e.l.f.

Please keep in mind that while e.l.f. cosmetics are vegan, many of their brushes are produced with animal fibers. The e.l.f. Studio brush line is made entirely from Taklon (a vegan, animal fiber alternative), but most of the e.l.f. Essential brush line are of animal origin. The exceptions are the Smudge Eye Sponge, Eyeliner Brush, and Foundation Brush. The vegan e.l.f. Essential brushes use bright yellow bristles as compared to the dark brown, natural bristles.

To complicate matters, there are now many e.l.f. Essential products that are packaged with non-vegan brushes. For example, there are the Blush with Brush, Bronze with Brush, and Shimmer with Brush products.

So far, there have been some Beauty Bundles that have contained products with natural fiber brushes.

stylebox by Jamberry Nails

Cost: $25 USD / month, after an initial bundle purchase ($75/3 months), ($140/6 months), ($275/ 12 months)
Where to Subscribe: Jamberry Nails

Details

Unlike the other box services listed, you must choose a bundled option—a minimum of three months to one year, paid up front—before the service becomes billed on a monthly rate. The six and twelve month plans are discounted. Shipping is free.

There are three style options: Classic, Trendy, and Feminine. A style quiz matches you to your ideal style, or you can choose to override it and choose the style that you think best fits your overall style. For the record, the quiz suggested I fit with the Feminine style, though I strongly disagree with that assessment.

The service promises at least $30 worth of Jamberry nail products in each box, and includes an additional nail file, orange stick, and style guide.

From Jamberry:

Get exclusive Jamberry products that complement your signature style delivered to your door each month.
