e.l.f. Cosmetics Discontinues Nail Polish Line
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my post already, but yesterday I discovered that e.l.f. has discontinued all of their nail polishes. All of them. At the moment, there are a handful of shades still available through the website.
This time the news is officially confirmed. In the Q & A section for the polishes, the e.l.f. reps stated several times that the polish has been discontinued.
It’s still unclear if this is a permanent decision or if a new polish line will be introduced in the future.
It seems a strange move for a cosmetics company—and a drugstore one at that—to discontinue their nail line. Especially with the holiday season right around the corner. Is e.l.f. really not going to have limited edition nail sets this year? I wonder.
On the other hand, the quality wasn’t as good as similar cruelty-free drugstore brands, like Wet n Wild, whose WildShine polishes retailed for half of e.l.f.’s. I definitely had a lot of trouble with chipping.
e.l.f. is sure making a lot of strange moves lately! What do you think of e.l.f.’s decision to discontinue their polish line? Do you think there will be another line introduced in the future? Let me know in the comments below.
I actually liked their nail polish line. I’ve got quite the collection and while the older ones are starting to look funky, the small, portable size made me feel less guilty about not finishing a bottle. I’ve had great luck with these not chipping immediately or bubbling on my nails. Gutted that I couldn’t grab the colors I wanted before they were gone but I’m hoping for another line soon!
There were a couple of shades I would have purchased too, if I had known that e.l.f. was discontinuing them. 馃檨 I’m guessing nail polish sets will still show up during the holiday months though.
Maybe they are discontinuing it because otherwise they’d want to consider a name change to n.e.l.f.?
I was clearing out some old boxes of junk my 22 year old daughter left behind when she moved out, and found the entire Disney Villains collection (2013) in its original, unopened box. I loved most of the colors so I kept them and decided to try one just yesterday. It’s GREAT, even at almost 3 years old. It dried incredibly quickly and has been very durable so far (I use a computer for my job and am typing for probably a total of 6 hours a day on and off). I am seriously bummed. They had great colors and I am very happy with the quality overall. I sent a comment on their website today about my disappointment. Maybe they’ll bring nail polish back if enough people comment on their site.
I had to post this comment here because I couldn’t create a new one.

I was very disappointed to hear that ELF discontinued their nail polish line. I never had the opportunity to try it. I never heard anything good about it though. I hope they give it another go in the near future because I just love everything about ELF and what they do. I have so many favorites. Mostly I love all the little items that enhance, fix, tweak, cover, change, etc etc. I keep my arsenal of “fix its” hush hush. Everything works really well on me too. I’ve heard from friends that things dont work on them, that they’ve experienced breakouts, and that they have trouble remembering what everything does because ELF, in some cases, doesn’t include on the tube, jar, compact etc, what each one does. I’ve had that issue from time to time as well. I’ve found a way around it. All you have to do is go to the ELF website and select Search. Then find the item number on the piece in question and type it into the search field. The website will bring up the item and all you have to do is read the How To section and Youre good to go! Im a huge fan of ELF cosmetics. I actually look forward to the morning routine I have of skin care and makeup application. I use to dread it until I discovered ELF because I wasn’t using the right makeup to achieve want I wanted. Now, there are times that I look at myself in the mirror and can’t believe I did that all by myself!!! Thank you ELF

My co-workers had a e.l.f. box set at our white elephant holiday party back in 2013. I am using the red glitter for first time and wanted to order more…then came across this blog and see why. The 0.2 ounce bottles are perfect sizes to experiment with and this is a bummer!
Ok but my favorite polish is from elf and now I find out I can’t get more? I ran out this summer and I am really mad. The polish was a nice colour and lasted at least a week and a half before it started to chip, which compared to other affordable polishes is quite a bit of time. And unlike other polishes it didn’t become gel like, but rather gardens into a nice thing, but opaque layer. That’s the polish that helped me stop picking at my nails and cuticles to! Now I’m sad.
