First ColourPop Order {Haul}

I finally broke down and purchased a few products from ColourPop last month. Seems like you can’t go three Instagram posts without someone raving about the brand. ColourPop kind of seems like another e.l.f. to me since everything is $5-$6 USD. Not all products are vegan, though you can find a list here.

The products came packaged in white cardstock boxes. I think the products arrived in an envelope, but I’m not 100% sure. There were also a few large cards that were enclosed in my order detailing the products I purchased, as well as a hand-written note.

Enclosed ColourPop cards.

I decided to try a few different items to see how much I liked ColourPop. Unfortunately, all three products I purchased are misses for me. The Lippie Stix in Bound is too pink for the warm undertones of my skin, and the Super Shock shadow in I <3 This is too sheer and sparkly for my liking.

I was very surprised to find few shadows I liked from the brand. Normally I wear rosy golds, but I didn’t really find any. The formulation for the Lippie Stix is fine, it’s just the color that’s not working for me.

My first ColourPop order.

The product I wanted most to work is the Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper. I’ve been searching for a Lime Crime Cashmere dupe, but lighter and more warm, less expensive, and not from Lime Crime. I tried LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Apocalipslick in Renegade but that was way too dark and purplish-brown for me. I can wear warm browns, but browns with purple undertones just don’t work.

Beeper is not nearly as dark as Renegade, but it’s not very warm either. After several times wearing Beeper, I discovered that the color is warmer and lighter if I blot my lips with a tissue just after application. It’s still a little dark, but I at least feel like it’s more flattering on me. I’m a little frustrated that all of the photos I’ve taken look warmer than in person. If I could get the colour in the photos, I would be much happier.

I’m not sure why I keep trying to buy these matte formulas because I have chronic dry lips. I find the formulation of the Ultra Matte Lip to be not so bad, but it becomes bothersome after an hour or so. The wear time is really good, so no complaints there.

Obviously I intend to wear everything because I did purchase them, though they aren’t going to be a first choice. I’m not going to say I won’t order again from ColourPop in the future, because I probably will, but I’m not in a rush to make another order. Not gonna lie, the Lippie Stix name really grates on my nerves, and is a deterrent to me ordering.
