{makeupfu} Updates

I thought it would be a good time to let everyone know about what’s been going on behind the scenes at {makeupfu}.

I haven’t made much in the way of posts or reviews since the year started. There are a couple of reasons for that, namely that I’ve been going through some personal issues and also severe chronic insomnia. I’ve had insomnia issues most of my life, but it has gradually gotten worse, particularly in the past couple of years. It sounds silly to not be able to sleep, but yet it can be incredibly debilitating. Getting to bed at 3 am is a major accomplishment. I thought I’d had a handle on things at the beginning of the school year. However, in the past couple of months I’ve gotten to the point where I only sleep in short three hour, or less, bursts. I’ve been a bit pro-active about sleep recently, but it’s still a battle. In the mean time, I function sort of like a zombie and it’s been difficult to keep things together.

I also had a really horrible eyelid infection last month that got in the way of things. I’ve been having more issues with them lately and I generally use ink eyeliners and no mascara to combat them. That mostly keeps them at bay, but this one was just awful. Fortunately it’s over and I don’t have to dread blinking.

Transitioning to a Vegan Lifestyle Blog

Moving on from personal issues, I have decided to make a few changes to {makeupfu}. I also run a blog called Cedar & Linn for my crafty endeavors. Originally I intended for it to be a recipe blog with other vegan and knitting stuff thrown in, but that didn’t really happen. Over the past couple of months I have wanted to design my own knitting and crochet patterns in a more serious manner. I don’t think having a business knitting blog with vegan food recipes is a good fit. It makes more sense to have the vegan part on this site.

What I want to do now is transition {makeupfu} into more of a vegan lifestyle blog. {makeupfu} will still primarily remain a vegan beauty resource, but I want to start adding the occasional food product reviews—and possibly vegan recipes—to the line up, as well as other special interest pieces to vegan living.

Site Updates

I’ve made a few minor design changes to the desktop version of {makeupfu} and a lot of updates to the mobile version. Though it was purely coincidental, my background image looked very similar to that of another vegan blog and decided it was better to change it.

New Facebook Page

And lastly, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I’ve finally caved in and started a Facebook page! I already have one for my fractal artwork and one for Cedar & Linn, but wasn’t sure if I should have one for {makeupfu}.

Be sure to stop by, like my page, and spread the word to friends and family! Sharing definitely helps me out.

Have a good day!
