The Pacifica Power of Love Natural Lipsticks are part of the exclusive Made to Matter initiative at Target. In addition, the Power of Love campaign will donate one lipstick to a woman in need for every lipstick purchased. While it may sound frivolous on the surface, this can be a practical way to give a self-confidence boost to a disadvantaged women in her time of need.

Pacifica products are certified cruelty-free and vegan.

Packaging

The white plastic packaging tubes, excluding printed design, is identical to the Pacifica Devocean lipsticks. The Power of Love lipstick features the red heart motifs of the Made to Matter initiative, while the Devocean lipsticks have a gold foil swirly design. I have not had any issues with the printing rubbing off as I have with other Pacifica products. There is a small white label on the bottom of the tube with the company info, shade name and product weight.

Overall l like the packaging for the lipsticks. Not too thick or excessive. I’ve criticized many Pacifica products for being bulky and clunky, but the company has gotten better at reducing excess packaging.

Pacifica Devocean Natural Lipstick in XOX and Power of Love Natural Lipstick in Nudie Red

The packaging also sports a #5 recycling symbol, for easy recycling. While the tubes of both the Devocean and Power of Love lipsticks look identical, the former lacks a recycling symbol.

Formulation

I rarely wear lipsticks because I have dry lips and they tend to exacerbate the problem. In general I do not have any issues wearing the Power of Love lipstick. The full coverage formula is moisturizing enough for me to wear it with few issues, although my lips will dry over time.

I find I need to reapply fairly regularly, though I admit I am tough on my lip products. You’ll definitely need to reapply after eating and drinking.

I have not noticed any bleeding around the edges of my lips.

Shades

So far there are only three shades available, though the Pacifica website shows five. Target lists Nudie Red, Super Love, and Compassion Passion, leaving out Tender Heart and Sweet One.

Nudie Red

I had seen Pacifica promoting Nudie Red, leading me to purchase this color first. I expected it to be much more red than it actually is. This shade doesn’t really have any red. It’s more of a mid-tone neutral, brick pink.

Nudie Red is an ever so slightly darker version of the Devocean Natural Lipstick in XOX. If I had known how similar the two shades are, I would have purchased a different color of the Power of Love lipsticks considering I had already received the Devocean lipstick in an earlier Petit Vour box.

Final Thoughts

Pros: Pretty shades, widely available
Cons: Redundant colors, few shades, price, only available at Target

Pacifica has a spotty record when it comes to lip products, but the company has done a good job with its Color Quench Lip Tints (read my review here) and both the Devocean and Power of Love lipsticks. I am willing to try one or both of the other two shades. I’m kicking myself for not buying another shade during the recent sale of Pacifica at Target.

Though Nudie Red is very similar in color to the existing Devocean Natural Lipstick in XOX, and the lipsticks nearly identical to each other in terms of weight and packaging, the Power of Love lipstick is several dollars less expensive than the Devocean version—$9.99 versus $14.

If you’re looking for a high quality natural lipstick, definitely give the Power of Love Natural Lipsticks a chance.
