March 2015 Favorites

It’s time to go over my March favorite vegan products! March was pretty crazy and I ended up getting a lot of products that I haven’t fully tried yet. You can see more of what I hauled last month on Instagram, if you are so inclined. I’m guessing a lot of what I hauled will end up on the April favorites list.

For some reason there’s a lot of Pacifica products on this month’s list. I guess it’s due to the Target clearance event earlier in the month which let me have more time to try them than the products I bought later.

Face

Andalou 1000 Roses Color + Correct

Where to Buy: andalou.com [link]
Price Tag: $19.95 USD

I probably would have been better off with the lighter shade—there’s two total—but the version I have seems light enough to work. Though I have read reviews talking about how thick the product is, I don’t personally feel the consistency is that different from most BB/CC creams on the market. One of my favorite things about this CC cream is that it smells like roses.

Wet n Wild CoverAll Primer

Where to Buy: In Wal-Mart stores; drugstore.com [link]
Price Tag: $4.99

Finally a face primer that doesn’t dry out my skin! My experiences with e.l.f.’s face have been hit or miss, but this one by Wet n Wild is completely a hit for me. I definitely see a difference when I use it. My skin appears more even and smooth. Plus, I can finally wear my e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Foundation Stick. The foundation stick apparently doesn’t like my skin, but it plays nicely with the primer as a barrier over my skin.

Eyes

e.l.f. Disney Princess Elsa Eyeshadow Palette

Where to Buy: In select Walgreens [store locator]; drugstore.com [link], walgreens.com [link]
Price Tag: $6.99 USD

While I haven’t gotten around to trying every shade, I’ve been super impressed with what I’ve seen so far—despite the price markup for the Elsa/Frozen franchise. I had some reservations about this eyeshadow palette due to the cool colors, but they seem to work well with my warm skin tone. The palette reminds me of the Pacifica Charmed Palette, but with much better pigmentation.

Pacifica Love 3 Eyeshadow

Where to Buy: In Target stores; target.com [link]
Price Tag: $9.99 USD

Though the shadows are slightly muddy when blended and the pigmentation so-so, I’ve found myself often reaching for this eyeshadow palette when I’m going for a soft look.

Pacifica Single Eyeshadow in Treasure

Where to Buy: Currently unavailable
Price Tag: N/A

I was fortunate to discover this eyeshadow unused at a local thrift store. Though the Treasure shade pops up randomly in select palettes (you can find it in the Target exclusive Power of Love Eye Shadow Palette and Gossamer Wings Palette), I believe this was an Ipsy subscription box exclusive. I expected Treasure to be really dark on me, but it turns out to be a pleasant brassy brown with nice pigmentation.

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Coffee

Where to Buy: In Target, Hy-Vee, other select stores; eyeslipsface.com [link]
Price Tag: $2 USD

I’ve recently rediscovered this classic e.l.f. eyeliner. For those unfamiliar with the product, it’s basically a felt tip pen for your eyes. I’ve avoided it in the past because it seemed weird to use, but I’ve recently realized how darn easy it is to use. Plus, I like how the eyeliner makes super thin lines for those days I’m going for a natural look. I can get close to the lash line without poking myself in the eye, like what usually happens when I use an eyeliner pencil.

Pacifica Smolder Eye Lining Gel in Tahitian Pearl

Where to Buy: pacificaperfume.com [link]
Price Tag: $14 USD

I didn’t expect to like this eyeliner as much as I have. Now that I’ve found some good vegan versions, I’ve switched over to mostly using eyeliner pencils. This gel liner glides on smoothly, and you can easily create thick or thin lines. I have Tahitian Pearl, a sort of dark greenish shade that’s not really noticeable once applied. It just kind of looks black.

My one gripe is the price tag. I bought it on clearance from Target, but fourteen dollars seems a little pricy. I’m fairly certain I would have never tried the eyeliner at that price.

e.l.f. Studio Lash Extending Mascara

Where to Buy: eyeslipsface.com [link]
Price Tag: $3 USD

This mascara is seriously awesome. It does a great job making lashes long and bold, with no clumping.

Lips

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints in Elude

Where to Buy: lagirlusa.com [link]
Price Tag: $3.49-$4 USD

I’ve been really impressed with the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints. The pigmentation is terrific and the new shades are much more suitable for my fair skin. Lately I’ve been wearing a lot of Elude and Peony. I prefer to use a lip brush instead to apply the product as the angled applicator that shoots out way too much product.

LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Apocalipslicks in Crypt Cream

Where to Buy: lunaticklabs.com [link]
Price Tag: $9 USD

While the famed Renegade has largely been a bust for me due to its dark color and cool undertones, Crypt Cream is definitely a success. The lip gloss has a velvety finish—neither matte nor creme—full coverage, and a minty flavor. It probably suits those with warm undertones best.

e.l.f. Studio Lip Balm in Peach

Where to Buy: eyeslipsface.com [link]
Price Tag: $3 USD

I’ve meant to pick up the shade Peach many times, but it hasn’t happened until now. I have owned Pink, Rose, and Nude for several years, but the first time I tried Peach I knew this was the perfect shade for me. I love that the lip balms have a harder-than-average wax, an SPF 15 rating, strong pigmentation, and a minty flavor. I really wish e.l.f. would expand this product line to include more shades.

Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint in Vanilla Hibiscus

Where to Buy: pacificaperfume.com [link] (slim version)
Price Tag: $7 USD

Probably because I have all of the lip tints from Pacifica, I’ve overlooked Vanilla Hibiscus with its low pigmentation until about a week ago. I happened to put it on before bed and noticed the subtle, pale pink opalescent shimmer. It’s perfect for when I’m going for a no-makeup look.

Please note that the jumbo version that I own and is featured in the photo above has been discontinued. The slim version is still available.

Epically Epic Soap Co. Lip Tint in Peach Macaron

Where to Buy: etsy.com [currently on hiatius]
Price Tag: $3.75 USD

I’m always a big fan of the Epically Epic Soap Co.’s lip tints and the new LE shade Peach Macaron is no exception. This shade has a surprisingly good peach color pigmentation with a very moisturizing formula.

Pacifica Power of Love Lipstick in Nudie Red

Where to Buy: In Target stores; target.com [link]
Price Tag: $9.99 USD

Another lip product from Pacifica. Don’t let the name fool you. There’s not much red in this shade. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful nude-y brick pink with great coverage.

Polishes & Brushes

Wet n Wild MegaLast Nail Polish LE Silver Lake Collection

Where to Buy: In select drugstores like Walgreens
Price Tag: $1.99 USD

I purchased three of the six new LE MegaLast polishes Silver Lake Collection this month. Of those three, I’m just loving Tree Hugger and Warm Filter. The pale shades are perfect for spring. As always, the polishes have great coverage and are super easy to apply.

e.l.f. Contouring Brush

Where to Buy: eyeslipsface.com [link]
Price Tag: $6 USD

[Not pictured] This brush is amazing! The first time I used it I knew it was just what I needed. I have a lot of trouble contouring, but this brush makes it so much easier to apply bronzers rather than a fan or angled brush. e.l.f. had excluded the Contouring brush from their last big sale and I almost didn’t buy it. I’m so glad I decided to suck it up because it’s definitely worth the full price.
